We interview Steve McIntyre, the Debian Project Leader, about Debian (obviously) and his job there and at Amino, how he got involved with the project, the recent GPL violation accusations, his stance towards derivative distributions like Ubuntu, the death threats towards Debian women and what his goals are for Lenny and the general the future.

We also ask him some questions from the listeners, including how he thinks Debian’s governance model is doing, why there are binary blobs in the kernel, if they plan to get into the booming netbook market and what happens when Debian runs out of Toy Story characters for release names. Fab also finds out what’s up with the Debian developers and kilts, although he doesn’t manage to discover what they wear under them…
