Interview (38:32)

Dan interviews Becky Hogge from the Open Rights Group about what their organisation is about, how it was founded, what they campaign for and how you can help. Dan and Becky also talk about general topics like civil rights and privacy in the digital age, both in the UK and internationally and we learn how both Neil Gaiman and Cory Doctorow are involved with the group. If you’re from the UK and this interview got you interested in the ORG’s work, please visit their site and consider becoming a supporter. Also, if you want to be part of the Neil Gaiman event in London, check this out.

Listener Feedback (70:15)

  • Joe Pentland tells us more about the Firefox vs. Iceweasel controversy and wants us the check out the band Futuristic Sex Robotz
  • Jonathan Groll from South Africa wants to know how we record the podcast, which we discussed in Episode 19 and asks us if we get sick of distro hopping
  • Michael Spannbauer from Regensburg bought a 20 Euro Mustek MC-1503F media player and tells us that it plays Ogg
  • Selcal suggests Yuengling for Fab to try as Beer of the Week and rants about the iPhone a bit — he also owns a Zune and is looking for help getting it to work in Linux
  • Peter Cannon sends us another very funny email about Dan’s Free Music challenge to him — Dan thinks he wants to move the goal posts
  • Frank Bell feels the need to rant some more about Best Buy (you can find his own horror story on his blog), he also loves Slackware und dislikes Gnome and sudo
  • Cam DeCoster asks us what we think about using the EeeBox as a dedicated media centre PC, Cam also tells us that his company finally blocked our Ogg feed

Wrapping it up, we mention the new Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook and it’s cool new interface for Ubuntu. Dell also started selling their Vostro line for emerging markets bundled with Ubuntu. Speaking of netbooks, Dan recently reviewed the Elonex Webbook and will talk about that some more next week on the show.
