Postby Fab on 06 Jan 2010, 23:38

On the first show of the decade, the Linux Outlaws bring you a KDE 4.3 review, VLC releasing a video editor, Year 2010 bugs, lots of discussion of Google and Microsoft and much more as usual...

Don't blame your drinking on the show!

Well l sure could go for a breakfast of beerios: cheerios in a bowl with beer poured on them.

And fuck flying cars. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
If the key is super, why is there a Windows logo on it?

There was a brief mention of shotwell, and while I haven't used it, it is written in the Vala language so it already has a plus in my book. Similarly the developer of shotwell, Yorba is also working on an audio recorder, video editor, and a vala gedit plugin, all written in Vala.

As for video editing, I've only used two editors that import from my video camera: kino and kdenlive; everything else seems to need the video to already be on the computer.

On the KDE review.
1) According to the screenshot, I don't see anything Fedora-specific.
2) To do custom KIO-slaves in Dolphin, click an empty part of the "Breadcrumbs" bar, and enter the same URL you'd put into Konqueror.
3) In fact, the KIO slaves also work the same way in the Open File dialog.
4) And Kate might be really heavy, but try KWrite.
5) And for the 3 Configure options, try opening them (nothing happens until you click OK). They do three completely different things.
