So.... since when is Ubuntu a "proper nerd" distro?

True, true . . . what I really meant, is why the outlaw community cares so much . . . since the forums seem to be about 95% nerd.

Because we know people that fall within Ubuntu's "target audience" and have to support their computers?

Is it?

mg6 wrote:The Ubuntu UK Podcast has an interview with the person (Ivanka Majic) responsible for moving the window buttons in Ubuntu to the left side. She doesn't really explain the decision, but appears that she wasn't really used to working with the open source community and hadn't anticipated this sort of reaction. That lack of experience in working with the community is probably part of the reason why the change was communicated poorly. She's an industrial designer and comes from a product design background.

I haven't finished listening to that yet, I found it positive that she identified the communication issue, though. Although that's really Jono's job, from what I understand...

mg6 wrote:Ivanka Majic might be a good person to interview some time to talk about user interface design in Linux (but as a general discussion, rather than about Ubuntu in particular). This is something that a lot of free software programs could use improvement on, so it's good that someone is trying to do something about it.

Probably not, since they just interviewed her. I'd rather talk to Mo Duffy again. What I prefer about the Fedora art team is the fact that they actively seek feedback *before* pushing stuff on the community and they also seem a lot better at "dogfooding", ie. all the Fedora art from the art team is created on 100% Free Software.

mg6 wrote:I can't however think of anyone who would want the Mono division. "Enterprise" customers seem to all want Java, and I can't think of anyone else who would have any reason to continue to pour money into Mono like Novell has. So, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Mono division simply shut down and the programmers there all let go. I don't know if the Mono project could survive on just volunteer part time "community" programmers, but if it does then they would probably have to curb their ambitions quite a bit and concentrate on much narrower goals.

Mono makes a lot more money for them then SuSE AFAIK.

Hell yeah - I'm right in the middle of upstate NY, and most of the towns up here are small - easy to find somebody in. If you can pass on the town, we might be able to round up some suspects!

I would think a 318 would be fairly easy to find. Those things are everywhere.

Since we are talking about cars, there is a Pontiac Bonneville stretch limo station wagon for sale by my friends house. 8 doors and 4 bench seats. $5000 and it is yours.
If the key is super, why is there a Windows logo on it?

Yes, a few are in my shop, both Poly's and LA's. I can squeeze in a 440, just haven't been able to squeeze in the time.

A neighbor has one just like it he loads up and takes to Royals games. I always drive Mopars, though there is a forward control Jeep up for auction at the end of the month. I learned to drive on one.
