"A Metric Buttload" would have also been a good title for the episode

The main bug with ext4, as I understood it, was not that files weren't getting updated, but that some were being truncated to zero size when a system crashed. Which is a MAJOR fail, if the filesystem was indeed responsible.
And while you're moaning about the Windows registry, don't forget that Gnome has also adopted a similar technology in GConf:
Essentially GConf provides a preferences database, which is like a simple filesystem.

sound familiar? Not so smug now are you, Gnometards? :P

Oh, and NRK is pronounced in Norwegian as "enn air kaw", so it actually sounds more like "inner core". :D

Registry is not bad; stupid implementation is bad.

I'm sorry but after reading the link to Gconf I can say that it doesn't even remotely approach the registry in Windows. I could go on about the technical failings of the registry and all of the security/performance/stability issues. Windows has many technical failures, some would argue the entire thing is a failure, but I don't think there is any one piece of the Windows system that represents criminal negligence quite like the registry.

Wow great news thanks, I still haven't tried YoFrankie properly I'm ashamed to say :( but I did download it ages ago. I'll attempt to rectify this terrible mistake forthwith. Those screenshots look great I must say ;)

Thanks to everyone for listening and commenting too btw :)

dan joked- the only person that can fix EXT4 is Hans Reiser. it will be a Silence of the lambs moment. LOL!! the rush of images that put in my head. Hans strapped to a moving dolly with the hockey mask on. :D

i wonder if ZFS does this as well? i had zero byte file problems with my Mythbox. it happened after i added a 2nd capture card. now i wonder if one or both of the capture cards started closing the files wrong.
