Thanks Bill, I doubt they will hear about this but I am a bit annoyed with them. I love this m1330 to bits but if it died 2moro I would not be buying another one with Vista on just to wipe and install Linux. I might consider trying to get a Windows refund and make a bit point out of it but that's the only way I could do it, I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing I'd bought Windows and given them money just to delete it. It's a personal choice, I respect other peoples decisions to do other things.

if you get a dell ubuntu with the intel 3100 graphic card option then you have your 100% free laptop. mine works without having to install any proprietary drivers and i get
Code: Select all
14 non-free packages, 0.9% of 1483 installed packages.
  4 contrib packages, 0.3% of 1483 installed packages.

I say we need to complain to the european union to force the laptop manufacturers to give us a choice ! I already have done this, but 1 person will not make them a difference.
Go here: http://ec.europa.eu/competition/publica ... r_liaison/
And complain the crap out if it.

Oh yes that's the amazing thing, even the FSF could not disapprove of their hardware, you could run gNewSense and everything would work 100% probably. It's sad that they've withdrawn this option. Why is it in America, the home of Microsoft they can have a great choice of Linux laptops and we get nothing in Europe? There's loads more Linux machines on the Dell US site but also there's great companies like System76 who I feel really do this business right. In the UK options are pretty limited. If you want an old Thinkpad the size of a small house then you might be ok but otherwise you better stump up for Vista pal and like it or else!!!

It happens occasionally but only when it's a cause I believe in, I don't get mad easily. I prefer to direct it all in the right direction or at least what I see as the right directions :D

<hat material="tinfoil">
it is a conspiracy by the US government to get MS software on all of the government computers of every other country. That way, when the shit hits the fan, the US government can initiate the secret "backdoor" that MS puts in their OSs and disable all foreign computers.

If the key is super, why is there a Windows logo on it?
